7 Celebrity Homes in Malibu

Celebrities struggle to avoid the media's attention. Whether they like it or not, their images, routines, and personal lives are frequently included in gossip magazines.

Hollywood celebrities place the most priority on privacy when purchasing a home since the 'paparazzi' are constantly on the prowl.

Malibu is a highly sought-after vacation resort for celebrities who must remain in the public glare but also wish to spend some quiet beach time away from the prying eyes of the media.

Hollywood has long favored this upscale beach town, and today its private beaches are lined with magnificent mansions owned by famous people (as well as some truly iconic TV show residences, like Charlie Harper's beach house on Two and a Half Men).

Even real-life royals are drawn to the Malibu lifestyle; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle looked at homes there a few years ago before deciding to make Montecito their permanent home. Even if the two may have taken a different path, Malibu still has a ton of famous mansions for us to admire.

Let's examine the long list of well-known residents of Malibu and their multimillion dollar residences in more detail.

Seven famous celebrities that reside in Malibu

Even though Malibu is close to Los Angeles, it offers a lot more solitude and seclusion than, say, Beverly Hills, in addition to some breathtaking coastal vistas, which is why celebrities adore living there.

Over the years, several of our favorite actors and musicians have lived here intermittently, while others have no intention of ever leaving. In no particular order, let's look at 7 of the top celebrities who now reside in Malibu.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio, a well-known Hollywood actor, had owned three luxurious seaside homes in Malibu, including one in the neighborhood known as "Billionaires Beach."

After apparently becoming successful with Titanic, DiCaprio purchased his first 1,765 square foot Malibu property in 1998. Since then, he has invested in improvements.

The actor, whose credits include Gatsby in The Great Gatsby and Rick Dalton in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, chose to market the three-bedroom bungalow as a rental in 2017 for 'only' $25,000 a month.

The Titanic actor earned $7.4 million from the 2009 sale of a modern blufftop house in The Bu. And in 2013, the Golden Globe winner received $17.4 million for a larger house in the exclusive Malibu Colony gated neighborhood.

Leo listed his third house on Carbon Beach in 2021 for $10 million. He paid $1.6 million for the home in 1998, and according to TMZ, he sold it for $10.3 million in 2021.

According to the New York Post, the Revenant actor traded in his longstanding home for a larger and more opulent Malibu estate.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga lives in a stunning 10,270 square foot mansion in Malibu that is one of our favorite celebrity homes. It is located just across from Zuma Beach.

The singer paid $22.5 million for her house in 2014, and she has come to refer to it as her "Gypsy palace" because she loves it so much.

Lady Gaga's Malibu home, which was previously shown in the Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, was recently shown to you during a tour.

Spoiler alert: Compared to the residences of other celebrities on this list, the house isn't as eccentric as you might anticipate.

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts, actress of the film Pretty Woman, has owned a stunning blufftop property in Malibu's posh Point Dume area since 2002.

The mother-of-three also reportedly possessed a smaller "spare" Malibu home across the street, which she sold for $8 million in 2020, according to Realtor.

Over 6,000 square feet of magnificent water vistas may be found in Roberts' main blufftop residence. The Academy Award-winning actress paid $6.4 million in 2002 to buy the opulent hillside home.

Her previous residence across the street was a casual beach cottage in Malibu, with four bedrooms and three baths.

Paris Hilton

Also arriving in The Bu are Paris Hilton and her husband Carter Reum.

According to Realtor, the couple paid $8.4 million in 2021 for an oceanfront home on La Costa Beach in Malibu.

On her Netflix series, Cooking with Paris, fans of the socialite can watch her prepare meals in her stunning Malibu kitchen.

The oceanfront residence's almost 3,000 square feet of opulent living area includes 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford, a supermodel, and her husband Rande Gerber are big California real estate investors with a love place for Malibu.

One of them is a stunning Malibu mansion they purchased in the 1990s and have been renting out for $45,000 per month during the summer.

At one point, they attempted to sell the property, even finding a buyer willing to pay $6.5 million for it. Due to the global epidemic, the customer was forced to back out of the agreement, but Crawford was very understanding of the circumstance and generously allowed the buyer to cancel, even repaying their money.

Crawford has another stunning Malibu property to enjoy with her adorable family because she is so in love with the neighborhood; Vogue visited it in 2017.

Only 7 of the biggest Hollywood stars currently residing in Malibu are listed here. However, given that the region's allure to the wealthy and famous is unlikely to diminish, anticipate to see an increase in the number of A-listers and renowned people visiting its sandy beaches and coastal position.

Kanye West

Rapper Kanye West became a member of the Malibu homeowners club in 2021.

The father of four couldn't resist the gorgeous seaside property, one of just a few Ando-designed residences in the United States, and forked over a hefty $57.3 million in an off-market sale.

According to Dirt, the Pritzker Prize–winning architect Tadao Ando's concepts for a Japanese "art island" are a great favorite of the Grammy Award–winning star.

Ye was able to pay top dollar for the Malibu property since he was then reported to be worth $2 billion (sequent issues and companies deciding not to be affiliated with him have since reduced his net worth to roughly $400 million).

Additionally, it appears that the Famous hitmaker has a deal. The approximately 4,000-square-foot home was taken off the market in 2020 after being first advertised for an astounding $75 million.

The opulent seaside home has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 3,665 square feet of space.

Richard Sachs, a former Wall Street financier and Ashley Olsen's ex-boyfriend, was the one who sold the waterfront mansion, which spans three storeys.

In order to prevent the massive mansion from sinking into the sand, it is said that the construction required 1,200 tons of poured concrete, 200 tons of steel reinforcement, and 12 pylons that were driven 60 feet into the earth.

Mel Gibson

Even though Mel Gibson's Malibu mansion was built in the 1990s, it appears to have been constructed millennia ago.

The actor purchased it from stars David Duchovny and Tea Leoni for $11.5 million in 2008, and he has kept it as his own ever since, despite having placed it up for sale quite a few times over the years.

Gibson put his 6,578-square-foot house on the market in 2017 for $17.5 million, but no one bought it. The property was then relisted in 2019 for $14.5 million, although the price reduction did not (at least not yet) result in the sale of the property. However, there were reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were interested in the home a while back; it turned out that they were just rumors.
